Book NowGet ready for a day trip that includes coastal cruising on the Great Barrier Reef drive. Leave Cairns and swing through the Northern Beaches round-abouts, before making your way to Port Douglas for lunch. Coral Sea one side and mountain ranges on the other, it’s a scenic spot to put the top down. On the way back, stop to leave your mark at the Cairns rock feature. A memorable Mustang or Porsche day trip to and from Cairns.
For a 2 day / 1 night northern adventure, start the same as above, but stay overnight in the resort village of Port Douglas. Next day, head up to the Tablelands via Julatten and enjoy rainforest views and scenery. Stop at Mount Molloy for a refreshing drink and country pub lunch, before continuing to Mareeba and then Kuranda. Check out the Barron Falls lookout and cruise down the Kuranda range, back to Cairns.
Want to take your ride up the mountains? Here’s our top day tour itinerary for the west of Cairns. Take the Kuranda Range up to the Tablelands. There’s lots of country villages and national parks to explore. Lunch at Gallo Dairyland is country cooking and they have locally made cheese and chocolate, which is delicious. From there, head over to the Curtain Fig Tree near Yungaburra. Elevated rainforest boardwalk, around an ancient tree. Stop at Lake Eacham crater lake for a swim, before heading back to Cairns down the Gilles Range.
If you have a little more time up your sleeve, then this 2 day / 1 night Tablelands itinerary lets you see some of the best bits. Head up the Kuranda Range and stop to check out Barron Falls at Kuranda. For lunch, try the Tolga Pub for some honest country cooking and for the night, Rose Gums Wilderness Retreat will put you amongst the rainforest trees. Day 2 is best spent exploring the southern Tablelands. This is a place of rolling green hills, spectacular waterfalls and lookouts. Must see and do: Millaa Millaa Lookout and Waterfall and lunch at Mungalli Dairy. Leisurely drive down the Palmerston Range and back to Cairns.
The south of Cairns has some amazing rainforest waterfalls and award winning attractions. Our suggestion for a day tour includes the best of both. Jump in the car and cruise south through the cane fields to Babinda. This little township has an amazing bakery for cream buns and sausage rolls, an excellent morning tea. Just beyond is the beautiful Babinda Boulders, which you can explore on foot or in the water. In the afternoon, visit Paronella Park just past Innisfail. Historic rainforest ruin and they do meals as well. Return to Cairns with sunset around the pyramid.
South of Cairns lies Mission Beach. A coastal pocket of rainforest which is home to a population of the endangered rainforest bird, the Southern Cassowary. It’s a touch too far for a day trip but makes an ideal 2 day / 1 night adventure in your American Muscle Car Hire Cairns. Leave Cairns and head south, with a morning tea stop at Babinda. If history and scenery is your thing, stop in at Paronella Park (near Innisfail) on your way to Mission Beach. Spend the night at one of Mission’s beachside properties and the next day take some rainforest walks or a Chocolate Farm Tour at Charley’s Chocolate. Ride the natural water slide at Joesphine Falls on your way back to Cairns.
